È indagata la memoria iconografica dell'iniziatore dei gesuati, la raccolta delle laudi del gesuato Bianco da Siena, e la fortuna della Vita quattrocentesca di Giovanni Colombini, redatta da Feo Belcari. Nel testo poi si ricostruisce la costellazione di gruppi, di esperimenti religiosi e di portatori di idee e di devozioni che fu legata ai gesuati e, in particolare, ai conventi di Milano, Siena, Lucca, Venezia e Roma e ai santuari gestiti dalla congregazione.
  • È analizzata la sociabilità congregazionale nelle sue linee: l'esercizio del lavoro come farmacisti e la coltivazione di amicizie spirituali con persone di spicco come la contessa di Guastalla, Lodovica Torelli. È infine studiato l'uso erudito dell'Epistolario del Colombini come testo di lingua. Il volume è chiuso dall'Appendice documentaria sul convento gesuato di Chiusi. Isabella Gagliardi è professoressa associata di Storia del Cristianesimo e delle Chiese presso l'Università di Firenze. Studia la storia dei movimenti religiosi e dei culti nei loro dinamici rapporti tra il livello istituzionale e quello carismatico nel Medioevo, di trasmissione delle memorie agiografiche, delle identità religiose e dei testi ascetici nel contesto storico mediterraneo, di storia delle esperienze religiose con particolare attenzione alla storia delle donne.   • The book analyses the history of the Jesuat congregation, highlighting the elements of connection and comparison with the social contexts, then describing the origin and the most ancient events of the female branch of the congregation, and the memory of the meeting between the "founder" of the Jesuats and the "foundress" of the Gesuate. The iconographic memory of the initiator of the congregation, Giovani Colombini, the collection of the lauds of the Jesuat Bianco da Siena, and the fortune of the 15th-century Life of Giovanni Colombini, written by Feo Belcari, are also investigated. Then the research reconstructs the constellation of groups, religious experiments and bearers of ideas and devotions that were linked to the Jesuats and, in particular, to the convents of Milan, Siena, Lucca, Venice and Rome and the sanctuaries managed by the congregation.
  • The congregational sociability is analysed along its lines: the practice of work as pharmacists and the cultivation of spiritual friendships with prominent people such as the Countess of Guastalla, Lodovica Torelli. Finally, the erudite use of Colombini's Epistolario as a language text is studied. The volume closes with a documentary appendix on the Jesuat convent of Chiusi. Isabella Gagliardi is associate professor of History of Christianity and Churches at the University of Florence. She studies the history of religious movements and cults in their dynamic relations between the institutional and charismatic levels during the Middle Ages, the transmission of hagiographic memories, religious identities and ascetic texts in the in the Euro-Mediterranean context, and the history of religious experiences with particular attention to the history of women.
