L'etica come scienza autonoma fra XII e XIII secolo : Un bilancio storiografico

  • La rassegna storiografica contenuta in questo saggio, limitata ai pochi lavori che offrono un excursus sull'etica fra XII e XIII secolo, evidenzia come l'ingresso dell'Ethica Nicomachea (EN) nell'Occidente latino non determinò una frattura rispetto alla dottrina morale precedente e che fu il Super Ethica di Alberto a costituire uno spartiacque nella ricezione dell'EN. Tuttavia, la dimostrazione albertina secondo cui l'etica è una 'scienza' trova qualche antecedente già nei primi commenti all'EN (ante 1250), in particolare nel commento dello Ps.-Peckham.   • This historiographical survey, which is limited to the few works offering an excursus on ethics between the 12th and 13th centuries, shows how the entry of Nicomachean Ethics (NE) in the Latin West did not determine a brake with respect to the previous moral doctrine. In fact, Albert the Great's Super Ethica was the real watershed in the reception of the NE. Nonetheless, the Albert's proof that ethics is a 'science' finds some antecedents in the Early Latin Commentaries on the NE (ante 1250), particularly in the Ps.-Peckham's Commentary.
