  • Il saggio pubblica ed esamina nove lettere ancora inedite di Ernesto Buonaiuti a Giovanni Gentile, che coprono un arco di tempo che va dal 1907 al 1933 ed offrono uno spaccato inatteso dei rapporti di queste due importanti figure del XX secolo. Finora infatti erano ben note tanto le differenze quanto i contrasti culturali che caratterizzarono il rapporto tra il più importante dei modernisti italiani ed il filosofo neoidealista. Questa corrispondenza, pur confermando tale distanza, mostra tuttavia come essi non furono 'due mondi' incomunicabili tra loro, ma intellettuali attenti al lavoro e al destino reciproco.   • This article publishes and studies nine unpublished letters of Ernesto Buonaiuti to Giovanni Gentile. They cover the period of time from 1907 to 1933 and offer an unexpected cross-section of the relationship between these two important persons of 20th century in Italy. Till that moment, both the cultural differences and disputes, that the most important Italian modernist and the neo-idealist philosopher had each other, were really well noted. On one hand this personal correspondence confirms that cultural distance, but on the other hand explains how they were two intellectuals with a big interest on the reciprocal work and human destiny.
