Interviste sulla storia contemporanea : rispondono Stanley G. Payne, Paolo Pombeni, Jeremi Suri

2017 - Franco Angeli

87-103 p.

  • Historians of the contemporary age have been reflecting on the state of the discipline for many years now, in Italy and abroad. Among the many issues under consideration are: the multiplication of new fields of research; an increasing specialization of studies; the cross-pollination with other social sciences; the emergence of a "global" historiographical debate, favored, in part, by digital technologies; the complex relation with the public debate; the difficult moment, in terms both of resources and role, experienced by human sciences. In recent years, a lively international debate on the perspectives of historical studies in the new millennium has developed, with the contribution of leading scholars and research institutions. Mondo contemporaneo aims at contributing to this debate, inviting eminent historians to discuss, through interviews, the state of historiography on the contemporary age, the role of the historian today, and the challenges that the discipline faces at present. This issue of the journal
  • presents interviews with Stanley G. Payne, Paolo Pombeni and Jeremi Suri. [Publishers' text].
