Gesuiti espulsi, gesuiti soppressi : una difficile integrazione

  • Il contributo riprende il tema dell'accoglienza e dell'integrazione riservata ai gesuiti iberici espulsi dalle Legazioni pontificie, territori all'interno dei quali gli esuli furono ospitati a partire dagli anni sessanta del XVIII secolo. In particolare il saggio intende presentare i risultati di alcune indagini sulla sociabilità dei gesuiti condotte negli archivi ferraresi, nell'intento di illustrare i percorsi d'inserimento dei padri spagnoli e portoghesi nel contesto cittadino, mettendo a confronto tale situazione con quella profondamente diversa vissuta dai confratelli iberici stanziatisi nel territorio della vicina Legazione bolognese.
  • I risultati cui si è pervenuti mostrano infatti un maggiore grado d'integrazione riservato ai gesuiti iberici stanziatisi nella legazione ferrarese rispetto ai conterranei approdati nel territorio felsineo. Attraverso i dati desunti dai censimenti rinvenuti negli archivi ferraresi, e con la rassegna dei casi maggiormente significativi a testimonianza di tale integrazione, si cercherà di fornire elementi a supporto della tesi proposta.   • The paper takes up the theme of the reception given to, and integration of, expelled Iberian Jesuits by Papal Legations, territories in these exiles were hosted from the 1760s. In particular, the paper intends to present the results of extensive research conducted in Ferrara archives on the sociability of Jesuits. The aim is to provide a picture of the integration process of Spanish and Portuguese Jesuits in the city and compare their situation with the very different situation of Iberian Jesuits located in the territory of the nearby Bolognese Legacy. Indeed, the results obtained indicate a greater level of integration of Jesuits in Ferrara's Legacy compared to fellow Jesuits located in the Bologna area. From data extrapolated from the censuses found in the Ferrara archives, and with the review of the most significant cases referring to such integration, the work aims to provide evidence supporting the thesis proposed.
