2003 - Leo S. Olschki
In this short excursus, the author outlines and retraces the historical cultural route that gave birth to the Florentine Società Colombaria while the city was suspended between its glorious Medicean past and the new Lorena government. It was in this new cultural atmosphere - collocated in Florence's 18th century political context - that many associations, academies and libraries were founded and many social political initiatives flourished, finding themselves appurtenances of the Società Colombaria.
