Nature and City : an Integrated Approach to Urban Biodiversity
308 p. : ill. col.
The book “Nature and City”. An Integrated Approach to Urban Biodiversity illustrates the outcomes of the research developed for the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC). The research investigates urban transformation processes through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach, defining strategies, methods, and tools for enhancing biodiversity and mitigating environmental stressors in urban environments. The theoretical framework is grounded in the evolution of the Nature-based Solutions (NbS) concept as an overarching paradigm for the sustainable management of urban ecosystems. The approach adopted is holistic and systemic: the built environment is conceived as a hybrid and dynamic system where nature and human construction operate as co-evolutionary and interdependent components.
