Queer Contemporary Art of Southwest Asia North Africa

Presents new perspectives on queervisual culture in the Southwest Asia North Africaregion from queer artists as well as scholars whowork on queer themes. With contributions fromboth scholars and artists, this volumedemonstrates that queer visual culture in theSWANA region is not only extant, but is alsoentering an era of exciting growth in terms of itsversatility and consciousness. The volume focuseson artworks produced in the contemporary erawhile recognizing historical and contextualconnections to Islamic art and culture withinlocalities and regions from the pre-modern andmodern eras.
