The Pian dei Mantellini educational facility is undoubtedly one of the most evocative of the prestigious sites belonging to the University of Siena. The complex was acquired by the University in the 1960s and occupies a large portion of the former Carmine convent. This has been little discussed in historiography and is far from being fully understood, yet it actually played a significant role in city life.
