Le Marchesi all'Unesco : patrimoni dell'umanità tra natura e cultura nei mari del sud.

Alle Isole Marchesi un dossier di "proprietà miste in serie", cioè insiemi di natura e cultura, viene iscritto nel luglio 2024 all'Unesco. Per le autorità 'enana (marchesiane) l'esigenza di restaurare e rendere fruibile il patrimonio culturale si e legata a doppio filo alla salvaguardia degli ecosistemi insulari, delle risorse e dell'alto tasso di endemismo. Frutto di una ricerca nelle zone dell'Unesco, questo scritto esplora l'attaccamento degli 'enana al passato, la relazione ecologica con i propri paesaggi terrestri e marini e gli immaginari sul futuro. L'articolo inoltre si sofferma etnograficamente sulle diverse prospettive e poste in gioco emerse durante la candidatura, affrontando come la comunità concepisca oggi lo status di Patrimonio Mondiale dell'Umanità [Testo dell'editore].

In the Marquesas Islands, a dossier of "mixed serial property", i.e. clusters of nature and culture, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2024. For the 'Enana (Marquesan) authorities, the need to restore and make the cultural heritage accessible has been closely linked to the preservation of island ecosystems, resources and the high rate of endemism. Drawing on research in UNESCO-recognised areas, this paper explores the 'Enana's attachment to the past, their ecological relationship with maritime and terrestrial landscapes, and their imaginaries of the future. The article also offers an ethnographic analysis of the diverse perspectives and issues that emerged during the nomination process, addressing how the community currently perceives World Heritage status [Publisher's Text].
