Remigio Nannini nell'officina dei Giolito : il caso di un esemplare postillato della collezione Rosenthal (ora a Yale)

2022 - Leo S. Olschki

P. 329-350

  • Thanks to a remarkable annotated copy of the edition of the Antichità romane of Dionysius of Halicarnassus published in Venice in 1545 from the Rosenthal collection and today in the Beinecke Library at Yale University we are able to take a much closer look at the manuscript interventions attributed to Remigio Nannini, a Dominican monk from Florence who was an assiduous collaborator of various printers and publishers and in particular the Venetian publishers Gabriele Giolito de' Ferrari. Nannini undertook a huge quantity of textual work in the preparation of two Gioliti editions of orations: the first of military orations which came out in 1557 and the second of legal orations (in civil and criminal courts) which appeared in 1561. In addition, the presence of another kind of annotation in the Rosenthal/Beinecke copy, this time added by the compositor, shows us how the copy was used in Giolito's printing house.
