Le verità dei testimoni : per una antropologia del ricordare

  • L'articolo è una riflessione sulla testimonianza autobiografica e sullo statuto conoscitivo che la testimonianza ha progressivamente acquisito nel discorso scientifico euroamericano. Lo scopo della riflessione è descrivere e analizzare le verità della testimonianza e dei testimoni facendo dialogare la prospettiva etnografica e antropologica con la letteratura psicologica, storica e filosofica. Usando come fonti alcune storie di vita rilevate durante una ricerca etnografica sulle memorie delle stragi nazifasciste perpetrate contro la popolazione civile in Italia, specificatamente a Sant'Anna di Stazzema (12 agosto 1944), verranno analizzate le istanze narrative e culturali delle testimonianze, il ruolo performativo del testimone, l'efficacia simbolica e comunicativa nel contesto pubblico e il rapporto tra verità testimoniale, esperienza soggettiva e vissuto biografico.
  • Questi aspetti del testimoniare saranno confrontati con la verità storica e giuridica sul caso etnografico descritto e verranno poi connessi con i quadri argomentativi ed esplicativi usati nella letteratura scientifica sull'argomento. In particolar modo verranno analizzate le conflittualità che dividono alcune testimonianze allontanandole dalle verità storiche e giuridiche sancite con le ricerche storiche e con le sentenze giudiziarie. Infine, per uscire dalla dimensione microetnografica, il confronto tra le diverse rappresentazioni della testimonianza nella ricerca antropologica sarà veicolato dalla dimensione particolare, relativa a Sant'Anna di Stazzema, alla dimensione nazionale e internazionale.
  • Le conclusioni che l'articolo vuole condividere riguardano il superamento delle dicotomie memoria versus storia, finzione versus verità, soggettività versus oggettività, che caratterizzano da almeno un ventennio il dibattito pubblico, scientifico e non, e che hanno finito per connotare moralmente e ideologicamente ogni riflessione sul valore sociale e culturale del ricordo e del ricordare [Testo dell'editore].
  • The author presents a study on autobiographical testimony and on the cognitive status that testimony has gradually acquired in the EuroAmerican scientific discourse. This study describes and analyses testimonies' and witnesses' truths proposing a dialogue between an ethnographic and â€anthropological perspective' and a â€psychological, historical and philosophical approach'. The author has chosen some life stories discovered through an ethnographic research on the memories of the NaziFascist massacres committed against the civilian population in Italy, precisely in SantʼAnna di Stazzema (12th of August 1944) and studied the narratives and cultural instances of the testimonies, the performative role of the witnesses, the symbolic and communicative effectiveness in a public context and the relationship between witness to the truth, subjective experience and biographical experience.
  • The author then compares some features of witnessing with the historical and legal truth of this ethnographic case presentation and connects them with other explanatory frameworks current in scientific literature. The author analyses in particular the conflicts, separating some testimonies, that move the testimonies away from the historical and juridical truths underlined by historical research and judicial sentences. Finally, to enlarge the microethnographic study of Sant'Anna di Stazzema, the author analyses the testimonies' different representations in national and international anthropological research. The author concludes underlining the setting aside of various dichotomies: memory versus history, fiction versus truth, subjectivity versus objectivity.
