A sale of books in Genoa in 1583

- The article, based on archival sources, examines a sale of books held in Genoa in 1583 between two booksellers: Cristoforo Zabata and Antonio Orero. Most of these books had been previously acquired in Venice. The article provides an accurate analysis of book prices according to subject: law, literature, history, medicine and so on. The survey also highlights costs with regard to the number of sheets, format and language, thus providing a set of information useful for further comparative cross-regional studies. The appendix includes a transcription of the source along with a bibliographic identification of the books enlisted.[Publisher's text]
- Il contributo esamina, attraverso la documentazione archivistica relativa, la vendita di libri avvenuta a Genova nel 1583 tra due librai: Cristoforo Zabata e Antonio Orero. La maggior parte dei libri venduti risulta acquistato sulla piazza di Venezia. Lo studio focalizza l'attenzione su un'analisi puntuale dei prezzi di vendita dei singoli libri suddivisi nelle varie tipologie editoriali: libri di diritto, di letteratura, di storia, di medicina eccetera. L'analisi pone in evidenza i costi dei libri anche in base al numero di carte, al formato e alla lingua del testo costituendo così un insieme di informazioni locali che potranno essere utilizzati in confronto con dati analoghi disponibili per aree geografiche diverse. Costituisce parte integrante dello studio l'appendice nella quale vengono trascritte le indicazioni relative ai singoli libri messi in vendita accompagnate dalla relativa identificazione bibliografica. - L'article examine en détail une vente de livres entra deux libraires génois en 1583. Lee livres vendus sont analyzés selon la matière e le prix de vente. Des tables illustrent les données analytiques en relation avec les sujets traités.
