The story of Cherche Midi begins in 1978 with the meeting between Philippe Héraclès and Jean Orizet. The first is passionate about humor and irreverence. The second holds poetry to be essential. Both advocate individual freedom as a fundamental value. This atypical collaboration will constitute the nurturing vein of a house that gives, to each of its publications, proof of its freedom – against trends, against new obscurantism, against the market, and even more, against stupidity.
