Rivista internazionale di ricerche dantesche

Fabrizio Serra Editore
  • Dante Alighieri is undoubtedly the most widely studied author in the world – even more so than Homer, Virgil, Shakespeare, or Goethe. His work's characteristic as "classic of classics" was already noted by the very first commentators on the poem, following his death. Despite the distance of centuries, the poet is felt to be a modern author, able to provide important answers to man's main existential problems despite any profound geographic, cultural and ideological differences. No longer solely an Italian national author, he has risen to the role of universal author: the most universal of all. There is no language into which the Comedìa has not been translated, even in languages distant from Western culture, such as those of the Far East.
  • Everywhere we find Dante Societies, the oldest of which is not even Italian, but German: the glorious Deutsche Dante-Gesellschaft founded in 1865, followed by the equally prestigious Oxford Dante Society in 1876 and the Dante Society of America in 1881. The Società Dantesca Italiana was formed later, in 1888. Similarly, numerous Italian and foreign journals regard Dante. All these journals have a fundamentally national flavor. Thus the «Deutsches Dante-Jahrbuch» is basically a German journal, «Dante Studies» an American journal, and so on. Likewise, Italian journals, starting with the oldest, «Studi Danteschi», are essentially Italian in nature. The title itself of this «Rivista internazionale di ricerche dantesche» highlights its global nature.
  • Publishing articles in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish, it is set up to be a meeting place for scholars from all over the world, who can discuss the most varied themes – philological, exegetical, historical-cultural and critical. A board of directors and a scientific committee boasting many of the most distinguished living Dantists, Italian and foreign, are the best guarantors of its international nature. [Publisher's text]
