[Testo dell'editore]
  • «Certainly, Jesus Christ conferred power upon Peter, but what sort of power was it? Jesus' three questions to Peter about love are followed by three commands: feed my lambs, feed my sheep. Let us never forget that authentic power is service, and that the Pope too, when exercising power, must enter ever more fully into that service which has its radiant culmination on the Cross», Pope Francis, Homily for the beginning of the Petrine Ministry of the Bishop of Rome. Although Petrine primacy calls to mind past polemics, today it can be tackled with more serenity also in ecumenical perspective. Catholic Church envisages that in Petrine ministry she treasures the gift of grace through which her unity – throughout time and space – is maintained so as to be Una et Sacta.
  • The contributions to the present volume delve into key aspects of the Petrine Ministry affecting the universal life and mission of the people of God. All of them are aimed at highlighting the intimate relationship between primacy and episcopacy in the missionary dynamism of the Church. [Publisher's Text]
