Roma e il suo governo

  • Fare l'assessore all'urbanistica a Roma è un privilegio, e per quanto si sia trattato di una esperienza politicamente tribolata e troncata prematuramente, rimane una esperienza unica sotto molti aspetti. Ho cercato di avere una postura improntata alla responsabilità dell'agire che contribuisse a costruire un orizzonte di cambiamento alla città eterna e contemporaneamente affrontasse la quotidianità delle tante questioni e urgenze. Ambizioni di futuro e pratiche quotidiane per contrastare la banalizzazione e restituire alle azioni il senso della complessità che la costruzione della città pubblica comporta. Tre sono i nodi del filo di ragionamento che ripercorro nel testo: il primo ha a che fare con Roma, e in particolare con la sua crisi; il secondo affronta il tema della discontinuità praticata con le scelte fatte; infine, il terzo è la responsabilità come postura dinanzi all'azione di governo.

  • Being a Councillor for urban planning in Rome is a privilege, and albeit it was a politically hard-troubled experience and interrupted prematurely after only 856 days, it remains a unique experience in many aspects. I have tried to have a posture based on the responsibility of acting, contributing to the creation of a horizon of change in the eternal city, and at the same time addressing the daily issues and urgencies. Working on both, the future ambitions of Rome and everyday practices, to counter trivialization and to restore the sense of complexity that the public city implies. Three are the nodes of reasoning that I find essential to recall: the first has to do with Rome, and with its crisis; the second deals with the discontinuity, practiced with the choices made; finally, the third is responsibility as a posture in the face of government action. This article is not a summary of what has been done, nor is it a conclusive assessment [Publishers' text].
