Leo S.Olschki - Parola del passato

The complete archive of La Parola del Passato journal, from 1946 to 2014, is now available on Torrossa. The journal has an interdisciplinary nature, including articles on the fields of Ancient History, Philology, Literature and Linguistics, Archaeology and the history of ancient art, and covers a wide temporal and geographic horizon, spanning from the Bronze age to Byzantine period, and from the Middle East to the Greek and Roman world. Founded in 1946 by Giovanni Pugliese Carratelli with the publisher Gaetano Macchiaroli, La Parola del Passato studies the ancient world with rigour and seriousness. The journal, defined by Benedetto Croce as “one of the most prestigious established in Italy at the end of the war”, has an interdisciplinary nature, including articles on the fields of Ancient History, Philology, Literature and Linguistics, Archaeology and the history of ancient art. A number of monographic issues, published over the years, are seminal for the study of history and civilisations of the ancient world. The journal also regularly publishes studies on previously unknown inscriptions and documents. Currently directed by Pia de Fidio, Valeria Gigante Lanzara and Antonio Rigo, La Parola del Passato is graded ‘A’ according to the Italian journal classification agency ANVUR.
