Founded in 1928, the Casa de Velázquez is a public institution which, since then, has been hosting several generations of artists and researchers. Currently, under the supervision of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, its mission is the development of creative and research activities related to the arts, languages, literatures and societies of the countries of the Iberian Peninsula, Ibero-America and the Maghreb. These activities are conceived and carried out within the framework of its two entities: l' Académie de France à Madrid, for the artistic creation, and l'École des hautes études hispaniques et ibériques, for research in Humanities and Social Sciences.
